Focus: Surviving When Christians Hurt You Day 2 | September 2 Learning to Set Boundaries Without Bitterness

Learning to Set Boundaries Without Bitterness

After suffering at the hands of someone trusted, it can feel hard to set boundaries. Yet the Bible is clear: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23) Paul exhorts, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21) Protecting your heart allows forgiveness and healing to occur, without enabling continued harm. Even Jesus withdrew from those whose hearts were set against Him. Setting boundaries is not unloving; it is wisdom.

Bible Verses:

  • “Above all else, guard your heart...” (Proverbs 4:23)

  • “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)

  • “Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” (Luke 5:16)

Call to Action:
Reflect on healthy boundaries you need to set. Pray for wisdom to guard your heart and strength to hold your peace when attacked.

3 Things to Remember:

  • Boundaries protect your peace and purpose.

  • Goodness is stronger than evil.

  • Wisdom sometimes means stepping back.
