Day 2: Mental Wealth Series (Moses - Overcoming Self-Doubt)
Day 2: Moses
Overcoming Self-Doubt
Grief, Renewal, and Running the Race
As we continue this New Year, let us fix our eyes on the ultimate prize: eternal life in Christ. This journey, however, requires more than just physical endurance—it demands mental health and mental wealth. Mental health provides us with encouragement and focus, while mental wealth—positive, Christ-centered thoughts—gives us the endurance to remain in the race.
But what is this race? It is the race to live a life aligned with God’s purpose, striving for the imperishable crown of eternal life.
The Apostle Paul explains this beautifully in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27:
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown."
However, running this race isn’t always easy—especially when grief, self-doubt, or past wounds weigh us down.
Moses: Overcoming Self-Doubt
When God called Moses to lead His people out of Egypt, Moses was overwhelmed by his own inadequacies. He said to God,
“Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent... I am slow of speech and tongue” Exodus 4:10.
Moses doubted his ability to fulfill such a monumental task. But God reassured him:
“I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” Exodus 4:12.
Like Moses, we often feel unworthy or ill-equipped to run life’s race. These feelings of inadequacy can deplete our mental health and wealth. But God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
In 2025, let us trust that God will equip us with everything we need to stay focused on Him and His purpose for our lives.
Reflection Question: What self-limiting beliefs are preventing you from running your life's race with confidence?
