Focus: Surviving When Christians Hurt You Day 13 | September 13 Learning to Discern Who Values the True Light

Learning to Discern Who Values the True Light

Just as some spiders capture fireflies to use their glow for gain, some people in your life may be drawn to your spiritual light your gifts, your faith, or your influence not to nurture you, but to benefit themselves. The Bible warns about wolves in sheep’s clothing and those who flatter for personal advantage (Jude 1:16). God calls us to discernment, knowing when relationships are safe and when you are being used instead of loved. Protect your glow don’t let others use your light for their gain.

Bible Verses:

  • “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)

  • “Test the spirits to see whether they are from God.” (1 John 4:1)

  • “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.” (Proverbs 2:10)

Call to Action:
Ask God to show you whether someone is benefiting from your presence in ways that aren’t mutual or healthy. Pray for boldness and wisdom to set boundaries and guard your heart.

3 Things to Remember:

  • Not everyone drawn to your light is safe.

  • Discerning love protects your gifts.

  • True relationships value your spirit, not just your sparkle.
