When Loyal Friendships Shift—Learning to Grieve and Grow
Sometimes friendships change and die, even between trusted Christian mentors and friends. As in the blog, loyalty may not be reciprocated, and hearts are broken when someone dismisses your feelings (“Your feelings are your feelings and are your problems, not mine.”). This pain echoes David’s grief over Saul. Grieve the loss. Remember, you’re allowed to feel deeply, but God’s comfort is greater than heartbreak.
Bible Verses:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” (Proverbs 17:17)
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
Call to Action:
Let yourself feel and process the loss. Pray for God’s comfort and wisdom, and accept that not everyone will value your loyalty—but God always does.
3 Things to Remember:
True friendships require mutual care.
Loss is hard, but healing is possible.
God is always faithful when people fail.
