Focus: Emotionally Triage Series Day 8: Practicing Gratitude
Day 8: Practicing Gratitude
Gratitude is a powerful antidote to negative emotions, shifting our focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant. Emotional triage includes cultivating a grateful heart, even in difficult seasons. When we practice gratitude, we train our minds to notice God’s goodness and faithfulness in every circumstance. This doesn’t mean ignoring pain or pretending everything is perfect; rather, it’s about choosing to see God’s hand at work, even in small blessings. Gratitude softens our hearts, lifts our spirits, and opens us to joy. It also strengthens our resilience, helping us endure trials with hope and perspective. As we give thanks, we align ourselves with God’s will and invite His presence into our daily lives. Over time, gratitude becomes a habit that transforms our outlook, relationships, and emotional health. Emotional triage is incomplete without the discipline of thanksgiving, which grounds us in God’s love and reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from Him.
Bible Verses:
· “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
· “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.” (Psalm 100:4)
· “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” (James 1:17)
