Know Your Mission in Spiritual Warfare
Know Your Mission in Spiritual Warfare
Theme
Understanding and fulfilling our mission as Christians in the spiritual battle.
Story
Every soldier needs to know their mission. As Christians engaged in spiritual warfare, our mission is clear: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).
The Mission
In every battle, clarity of purpose is essential. For Christians, our mission is explicitly outlined by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20: *"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."* This Great Commission calls us not only to share the Gospel but also to disciple others—teaching them to live according to Christ’s commands.
Spiritual warfare adds urgency to this mission. The enemy seeks to blind people to God’s truth (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we are called to shine His light into the darkness. This requires more than words; it demands a life that reflects God’s love, truth, and righteousness.
Equipped for the Mission
Fulfilling this mission requires preparation, you must know your position. Understanding your position as a soldier in God’s army complements knowing your mission by providing confidence and assurance during spiritual battles.
Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:10-17 that we must "put on the full armor of God" to stand firm against spiritual attacks. Each piece of armor—the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit, and shoes fitted with readiness—equips us for effective ministry.
Additionally, like soldiers undergoing rigorous training, we must engage in continuous spiritual growth and Walk in Faith. Strengthening ourselves "in the Lord and in his mighty power" comes through:
- Prayer: Communing with God for guidance and strength.
- Bible Study: Deepening our understanding of His Word.
- Fellowship: Encouraging one another as members of Christ’s body.
Living Out the Mission
Our mission isn’t confined to church walls or specific ministry roles...You Must Know Your Position. It’s a daily commitment to live out the Gospel wherever we are—at home, work, or in our communities. By doing so, we demonstrate God’s transformative power and draw others toward Him.
