A Heartfelt Christmas Message about Relationships and Letting Go

Sometimes the decisions of the heart can be challenging, especially when our choices are predicated on strife. Whether one is married or in a relationship, conflict can be the primary reason that relationships, friendships, and family connections need to separate.

Strife blinds us, keeps us unfocused, and places us in an unhealthy mental state. As I grow older, I've realized that strife is something we will never truly become accustomed to.

The Biblical Lesson of Abraham and Lot

Let's examine the story of Abraham. God wanted Abraham to leave his comfort zone and start anew with his family and servants. Although God did not ask Abraham to take anyone beyond his immediate family, Abraham chose to bring his nephew Lot on this journey.

This decision ultimately created complications. Lot's servants began to conflict with Abraham's servants, and tensions escalated. By sharing God's promise with someone not fully invested in the journey, Abraham complicated what should have been a straightforward path.

The Importance of Letting Go

Eventually, Abraham had to ask Lot to separate from him. Lot chose the best land for himself, and his presence created significant strife - including his own kidnapping and ongoing conflicts between their servants.

Only after Abraham released Lot was God able to fulfill His promises. This powerful lesson teaches us that sometimes we must let go of relationships that cause unnecessary tension to allow God's miracles to manifest in our lives.

A Message of Hope and Faith

Remember, choosing God sometimes means being tested and potentially rejected by loved ones.

However, this does not make us less compassionate or faithful Christians. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, God has great plans for our lives.

This Christmas, reflect on the relationships that bring peace and those that create constant strife. Sometimes, loving from a distance is the most Christian act of all.

Merry Christmas and may God bless you with peace and understanding.
