Focus: Surviving When Christians Hurt You Day 21 | September 21 Don’t Stay Captive Moving Beyond Spiritual Exploitation
When the firefly’s glow finally fades, the spider consumes it and moves on. Likewise, exploitative Christian leaders or colleagues often drop people when their light burns out or they “outgrow” their usefulness. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary … I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Your worth and brightness should be refreshed in God’s presence—not depleted by people who only use you for a season.
Bible Verses:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you.” (Psalm 55:22)
Call to Action:
If you feel used up or “discarded” by toxic leadership, spend time resting in God’s presence. Believe that He restores your shine and never exploits your spirit.
3 Things to Remember:
You are not meant to burn out for someone else’s agenda.
God never discards or exploits His children.
Rest renews your light for new seasons.
