Focus: Surviving When Christians Hurt You Day 20 | September 20 Your Light Is Attractive But Protect Your Shine

Your Light Is Attractive But Protect Your Shine

In the field experiments, spiders using fake firefly lights attracted many more insects, showing that even imitation brightness can be exploited to lure others. Some people may imitate spiritual passion or borrow your ideas—using your light to boost their own visibility or success. The Bible says, “Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” (Galatians 5:26) Protect the originality and purity of your gift. Your light should point to Jesus, not build someone else’s kingdom.

Bible Verses:

  • “Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.” (Galatians 5:26)

  • “A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy … I have come that they may have life.” (John 10:10)

  • “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

Call to Action:
Guard your creativity and spiritual passion. If God prompts, set boundaries so your brilliance is used to build His kingdom, not someone else’s platform.

3 Things to Remember:

  • Your genuine light honors God, not just people.

  • It’s okay to say “no” to requests that misuse your gifts.

  • Authenticity in ministry preserves your joy.
