Focus: Surviving When Christians Hurt You Day 1 | September 1Introduction – “When Your Light Makes Others Uncomfortable”

Introduction – “When Your Light Makes Others Uncomfortable

There are seasons when the deepest wounds come not from strangers, but from those who call themselves Christians. Like David and Saul, sometimes the very people once closest to us suddenly become adversaries, stirring confusion and pain.

For over two years, you sought to honor God, show loyalty, and keep your peace, even as a leader—mentor, friend, and counselor—brought heartache. Exodus 14:14 became your anchor: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Jesus too was rejected by His own. Beginning this month, commit to surviving betrayal by leaning on God’s promises and letting Him prove that being chosen may cost relationships, but never God’s favor.

Bible Verses:

  • “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)

  • “Even my close friend, someone I trusted...has turned against me.” (Psalm 41:9)

  • “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.” (John 1:11)

Call to Action:
Invite God to search your heart for pain left by other believers. Surrender every wound to Him and pray for the courage to be still as He fights your battles.

3 Things to Remember:

  • Loyalty can cost you, but God honors it.

  • God sees and defends the wounded.

  • You are called, even if rejected by others.
