Our Heart: The Center of Healing

Gina’s heart carried wounds no one could see. For years, she hid her pain behind a smile, but inside, her heart was in turmoil. The abuse she suffered as a child left deep scars, and now, with her abuser living under her roof, those wounds bled anew. Every night, fear for her children kept her vigilant, and her health suffered. She prayed for forgiveness, but her heart remained conflicted. I shared with Gina that healing begins when we acknowledge the hurt in our hearts and take steps to protect ourselves. Setting boundaries is not about building walls but about creating safe spaces for healing. Gina needed to recognize that her heart was precious—worth protecting and worth healing. As she learned to set limits and speak her truth, she began to reclaim her peace. The journey was not easy, but with each step, her heart grew stronger. She realized that forgiveness is possible, but it does not require allowing harm to continue. By setting boundaries, Gina honored her heart and allowed God’s love to begin the healing process. Her story reminds us that our hearts are the center of our healing, and with God’s help, we can find peace even in the midst of pain.
