Proverbs 12: The Heart of the Battle – Healing for Abused Hearts

Theme
Understanding spiritual warfare as an internal, heart-level struggle that can only be won by surrender. Proverbs 12 teaches that healing, wisdom, and restoration come through discipline, truth, and the words we speak, reminding us that the deepest battles-and victories-begin in the heart.

Personal Story
The battle that survivors of abuse fight is often loudest inside their own hearts and minds. Memories run on repeat, and the enemy tries to convince us we’ll never heal or move forward. The brokenness feels overwhelming. But here’s the truth: the battle first takes place at the heart. It was your heart and spirit that were broken, and that’s where healing must begin.

When I finally brought my wounds and pain to Christ and surrendered my hurt, it was the Holy Spirit who began to mend what was shattered. Surrender is scary, but it’s the only way to healing-no more struggling in my own strength, no more carrying the weight alone. Proverbs 12:18 says, “The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.” God’s wisdom brings healing to our deepest wounds.

Relevance Today
