The Power of Choice and God's Forgiveness
The Power of Choice and God's Forgiveness
God created humanity with the power of choice, setting us apart from animals. This free will allows us to choose good over evil, but it also means we can make harmful decisions when we're not truly connected to our Creator.
As survivors of abuse, we have a choice in how we respond to our past. We can choose to begin the healing process or remain broken. We can choose to forgive or to hold onto hatred. Romans 12:21 encourages us: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
My journey of forgiveness taught me that true freedom comes when we allow God to heal our past. It doesn't mean forgetting or excusing the wrongs done to us, but it means releasing the burden of anger and bitterness.
Remember, just as God has forgiven us, we are called to forgive others. Colossians 3:13 says, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."
Call to Action: Today, ask God to reveal any areas in your life where you need to extend forgiveness.
Take the first step towards freedom by surrendering your pain to Him and choosing to forgive.
