Shining Our Light: A Journey of Faith and Healing
God has been faithful as we continue to shine our light in our lives. We not only illuminate our own paths but also brighten the lives of others. The Bible gives us guidance in Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path". It is through the study of His Word that we receive sparks of energy and light, illuminating the crevices of our souls, minds, and hearts.
Life can be taxing, leaving us tired and constantly seeking ways to improve our circumstances. Often, we strive to do better because we haven't forgotten or forgiven past hurts. However, it's crucial to let your light shine, no matter how dim it may seem.
Overcoming Abuse
If you're reading this post, you may be a survivor of some form of abuse, whether from childhood or adulthood. Sexual abuse, regardless of age, is never consensual. Those in positions of leadership should know better, but sometimes their own lights have been extinguished, leading to inappropriate behaviors or even abuse.
We must recognize that we are fighting an unseen enemy whose influence has embedded itself in many lives. As John 16:33 reminds us, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world". This encouragement doesn't mean we'll forget our experiences, but rather that the intense feelings we once had towards our abusers may diminish over time through the process of forgiveness.
The Healing Journey
Forgiveness is an integral part of the healing process. You have the power to choose healing, and when you do, you'll begin to radiate in a way that others will notice, even if they can't quite put their finger on what's different about you.
When you're under the light of Jesus Christ, empowered by His love, even the darkest corridors of your life can be illuminated. Your testimony has the power to inspire others and give them hope to continue living. You are a lighthouse, standing firm on the Rock of Ages – Jesus Christ.
The Biblical Story of Light
In the beginning, God said, "Let there be light," and there was light (Genesis 1:3). This divine act of creation set the stage for the central theme of light throughout the Bible. Jesus later declared, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).
Just as God brought light into the world, He calls us to be bearers of that light. In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus tells His followers, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven".
As you continue to seek wisdom and ways to shine, remember that one day we will be face to face with Jesus. He will wipe away all our tears, a promise we can depend on because He has been faithful to us all.
May God bless you as you continue to shine your light in this world.
