A Chaplain's Message of Comfort During the Holidays

Dear Friends,

The holiday season can be a time of joy and togetherness, but for those grieving the loss of a loved one, it can also be a period of profound loneliness and sorrow. As a chaplain, I want to offer you words of comfort and hope during this difficult time.

Finding Solace in Faith

When I feel alone or out of sorts, I turn to the love letters written to me by Jesus in the Holy Scriptures. These sacred texts are reminders of His unwavering love and presence in our lives. If you find yourself feeling misunderstood or uncared for, remember that His heart is full of unconditional love for you.

A Letter from His Heart

I invite you to consider writing a letter to yourself, inspired by the promises found in the Bible. Here is an example that might bring you comfort:

My Dearest [Your Name],

My love letter to you is this...a love letter like no other in this world. Are you aware that there isn't a moment that I don't think of you? I know the thoughts I have for you—thoughts of peace and not evil, so that you may have a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11. Did you also know that before you were born, I knew you and I also formed you in your mother's womb and set you apart ?Jeremiah 1:5
My dearest love, you are my beloved child, and I am your God who is Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:18
My child, I know your journey has been difficult and at times horrific, please know that I have always been with you when your heart was broken and your spirit crushed. Psalms 34:18
As I have said it before and will continue to say it, I promise never to leave you nor forsake you. Hebrews 13:5. I love you so much that I came into this world to die on the cross for you.
Please hold on to hope and fight the good fight. 1 Timothy 6:12 and be still and know that I am God. Psalms 46:10
Though it may seem like an eternity, I will return to take you back with me that is my promise. John 14:3 When that day comes, I will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more sorrow or pain. Revelation 21:4 l
Hold on to me, and let my Holy Spirit comfort you. My dearest child, I miss you and long for the day we will be together again.

With all my love,

Jesus
